This is new to me. I always thought that trailers are heavy and a drag. But this one from Extrawheel looks so light and easy to pull. Must be a better option than the pannier. The only question is, would it be a part of the bike or seperate item that will be charged extra when carrying on plane?

The Extrawheel is definitely seperate from the bike. With out the bags, it is quite narrow and could possibly be packed together with a bike in a bike case. Or just it's wheel could big packed with the bike and the frame and the Extrawheel bags could be packed in a separate haul bag like the Ortlieb Big Zip.
Overall, the Extrawheel trailer is a great trailer and performs remarkably in even the roughest conditions. It's great for taking the load off the bike. The Extrawheel Trailer is available at the Bike Trailer Shop, the US Extrawheel Dealer.
